Growing Pains

With spring just around the corner and a few days of warm weather, I cannot help but think of the landscape that is about to come to life. Trees and flowers blooming, grass starting to grow. Growth is not always easy, but with the right mindset the possibilities are endless.

Given all that has occurred in recent months, it’s hard for me to believe that one year ago, I traveled to Orlando with my daughter for the US Tae Kwon Do Open tournament. She competed against people from all over the world. She didn’t come home with any medals, but she came home stronger and building a plan to grow as an athlete. COVID-19 was a thing, but not here.

Within two weeks we became much more aware of the virus when despite all of our checking and confirming that our family ski trip was still on, it wasn’t.  The moment (literally) we arrived in Denver I received texts from our host and the ski resort that Colorado was shutting down. Feeling crushed, we made the most of our family time – enjoying being outside, playing games, talking, watching movies. Through all of that, my family experienced the normal ups and downs of life such as welcoming new family members, saying goodbye to loved ones, raising children, health challenges, etc.

Of course, the work environment has been more challenging than usual. And, sometimes those challenges come with grumbling and failure and starting over. We have been forced to adapt to new ways of providing services to clients and just getting things done in general. But, the LifeBridge team has stayed focused on what we can do how we can GROW!

Whether as a parent, spouse or a leader of an organization, watching your loved ones or your team struggle is difficult, even heart wrenching at times. However, with a growth mindset that keeps you focused on what can be learned and achieved together, it is well worth the struggle.
